FAQ

The main difference between solid and engineered wood flooring is that a solid board is a single piece of solid timber, while an engineered board is made up of several layers of timber. Solid wood flooring can be sanded down and refinished repeatedly. Engineered wood flooring is a much more stable floor with a robust construction, resistant to environmental changes, suitable for environments with large changes in temperature and humidity, such as bathrooms, utility rooms, or kitchens.

PRIME: very few, if any, knots and minimal colour variations; CLASSIC: few knots and slight colour variations that give a very natural appearance; RUSTIC: a considerable amount of knots and ‘flaws’, as well as colour variations that give the most natural wood appearance and character

We offer a variety of different species of hardwood. The species of wood determines the characteristics of the flooring, i.e. how hard and durable it is, the colour of the finished product and the grain pattern of the surface. We currently offer the following wood species: Ash, Larch, Oak, Walnut, and Swiss Stone Pine. All our products are sourced from responsibly managed and actively replenished forests.

Oiled wood floors have a natural look and are easy to spot repair in the event of surface damage. Lacquered wood floors tend to be very hard wearing and need very little maintenance. However, if subject to grit, stiletto heels, and other abuse, then the lacquer will soon show signs of wear and tear. A worn lacquered floor will need to be sanded back to bare wood and refinished.
